Article by Tim Stewart

What’s important to you in a home? Are you looking for a waterfront community? Is your privacy important to you? Do you want your home to be a relaxing escape, a place that’s comfortable, calm and where you can let the pressures of the day simply be washed away? Those who are drawn to Georgetown, South Carolina, particularly those who are drawn to Winyah Bay where the rivers of Georgetown and the Intracoastal Waterway come together, will find all of those things and more at Craven’s Grant.

The Craven’s Grant community offers those who are looking for waterfront homes their choice of water views. Facing the Intracoastal Waterway, facing the bay or the marsh or even the lake. Porches on each home in the Craven’s Grant community give homeowners a chance to do more than just look out at the water through their windows, it provides them with a chance to sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze while listening to the sound of the waves rolling in to the shore.

Homes in Craven’s Grant are more than just homes; they are a hideaway where residents can get away from it all. Fortunately, the private sanctuary isn’t far away from the comfort and convenience of Georgetown. Whether they are looking for shopping, fine dining, the arts, or simply a place where they can stock up on the essentials, the city with the small town feel is just a short trip from home – as are white sandy beaches and championship golf courses.

Of course, Craven’s Grant has plenty to offer within the gated community as well. Gazebos offer great locations for coming together and relaxing with friends. A swimming pool, tennis courts and walking trails make getting and staying fit simple. A planned community boat dock will offer residents who enjoy getting out on the water the chance to keep their boats close to home and to take off on a moment’s notice.

Similarly, those Craven’s Grant residents who are looking for a quick getaway will find that both Charleston with its historic charm and Myrtle Beach with it’s restaurants, shopping, theaters and entertainment, golf courses and family focused fun, are located just a short trip from home – both are less than an hour away by car.

Craven’s Grant puts you in the middle of it all and gives you plenty of opportunities to kick back and enjoy all that life has to offer – whatever it is that interests you. If you’re drawn to nature, you’ll find that it’s easy to come by with untouched landscapes and wildlife preserves. If you’re drawn to the water, you’ll only have to walk out from you home and it will be right there in front of you. If you need a regular escape into a Southern city with a small town feel, you’ll find that it’s right there waiting for you – along with everything else that you need.

At Craven’s Grant on Winyah Bay, you will find everything that you are looking for – and then some.

Locating Your State’s Requirement For Homeschooling

Locating Your State’s Requirement For Homeschooling

Article by Christopher Byrnes

Home schooling, despite its popularity, is yet to have one singular standard for acceptability or validity. This means that as you go around the country, different states have different levels of requirements for home schooling to be duly recognized.

The decision to home school your child isn’t the simplest one in the books. However, once you’ve made your decision, it may be a good time to begin intensive research and inquiry into state requirements and other guidelines you have to take into consideration once you’ve made the decision.

There are states like Texas, Illinois, Missouri, or Oklahoma, among others, that do not require informing the state of any intention to home school your child. So technically, you may opt to start your preschooler on home schooling already or pull your child out of the formal educational system at your own will, should you decide that home schooling is for you.

Other states, however, would require you to inform the state and your child’s school of your intention to begin home schooling. It is only in this way that the state can accredit your child’s grade level standing. Alongside this expression of intent and plan is the requirement of the state for you to submit exam scores, progress evaluation grades, and even your child’s attendance record. The state may also specify an amount of time that should be spent in this informal school studying the various subjects you intend to teach your child.

The states with tightest home school regulations set requirements of informing the state of your intent to home school your child. Alongside this expression of intent is the submission of the curriculum you intend to teach while home schooling. You may also be tested if you qualify as a parent-teacher when you home school your child. State-appointed officers may also visit your home to check if it is suitable for home schooling. Aside from these requirements, submission of periodic documents like exam scores, progress evaluation grades, and attendance records may be required of you as well.

Given this volume of information that you must be familiar with when you decide that you want to give home schooling a try, where will you find the necessary information?

Basically, your first and most primary source of information should always be your state or local government unitl education office or authority. You can approach these agencies in two ways, either through the agency’s website or by visiting the physical location of the said government office. In order to save time and money, you should perhaps visit the website first. This is also most recommended as the primary course of action because of the fact that some of these educational agencies actually upload the necessary forms you have to fill out in relation to home schooling. Some of them even prefer your getting in touch with them and submitting your requirements online!

Next, you may want to check home schooling support groups and legal specialists who have put up various websites on the subject. This way, you will be able to read of firsthand experiences of people who’ve tried home schooling before, and in the long run, learn valuable tips and tricks in order to make it work for you. They even provide various suggestions on activities and teaching strategies you may want to try as you home school your child.

Much of home schooling is very much feel-your-way-through, so don’t be afraid to visit these support groups and forums and ask questions. By doing so, you would be able to make sure that you are giving your child the best sort of home schooling you can provide for him or her. Moreover, you can even find out more about the post-home schooling period, which is the time when your child begins applying for university or college, from home schooled applicants who’ve gone through the usually much longer process.

Home schooling, as it is, is yet to be standardized across the country. Various legislative and administrative changes are underway each day. This is where online home schooling websites may help. They can give you news updates, briefings, and summaries of various state and federal legislation on home schooling. These timely bits of information may guide you better in home schooling your child, and keep you up to date with trends and changes in rules on home schooling across your state.

How weather conditions affect Bass fishing

How weather conditions affect Bass fishing

Article by Oscar Uzoma

If you are planning a bass fishing trip, you may want to review weather conditions before getting started. Many anglers travel to enjoy bass fishing, some of which are pros and can decide the best time to visit fishing holes. In addition, novice anglers know how to predict weather conditions.

For those just getting started, you may take advice from the pros. On that note, this article is geared towards novice anglers and the inexperienced.

Bass tend to swim in all weather conditions, yet when fishing, the weather plays an essential part in how much catch is made. For instance, if the water is stable, bass tend to rest and feed on routine schedules. The schedules play a major role in the time to catch the bass. Most times, bass are predictable during stable weathers. The bass tend to feast during incisive contravention points, i.e. in the middle of the day. Once they are full, the bass tend to swim near the bottom of the water. During this period also, bass schools start, giving anglers the opportunity to attend Fishing classes.

Cold Fronts and largemouth bass:

During cold fronts, bass tend to feast a great deal and compel anglers to use unique strategies, which include small lures and light fishing lines.. During spurts the bass will feast lightly, which prepares them for friendlier waters.

Winter Fishing:During the colder months, the water attracts the sun, which sometimes makes the water warmer. At this time, bass fish tend to swim along the outside of the water, floating up on occasion. However, on warm days, largemouth bass tend to rest, hence making the fish harder to catch.

Warm days:

Apart frm he fact that Largemouth bass tend to feed during warm days, the water temperature and the season influences their feeding.

Windy days: Bass tend to gravitate toward brushy areas or timber during windy days.Depending on the degree of wind, and the direction, warm windy days attract smaller fish, which attract bass. If the wind is blowing in the same direction, and the wind is warm, bass tend to gather is that region of the water.

If the wind is affecting the water, i.e. if waves are hitting the shoreline, bass fish tend to gravitate toward muddy areas, yet on occasion where they quickly discover clearer water, the bass will feed.

Strong winds:

It is advisable that you wait before going bass fishing if the winds are strong. At this time if the waters are shallow, bass tend to swim slowly through the streams. Moreover, water turbulences will send bass to the bottom of the water.

Rainy Days:

Rain draws the attention of everything in nature, including bass. Bass benefit from rainy days and will swim en route for the surface of the water, thus making it a good time to fish. At this time, you may want to enjoy bass fishing. However, if the rain is heavy and pouring, bass fish tend to cease biting.

If you are planning a bass fishing trip, you may want to learn how novice anglers decide on weather condition.

How anglers decide: Anglers consider cirrus clouds, thunderhead, calm, waves, stall fronts, clear skies, cumulus clouds, heavy runoff, lightning and thunder before, after, and while bass fishing. Anglers tend to focus on patterns as well. Patterns defined in angler terms refer to the location in which bass swim, and the staging that is required to promote catch.

Tip: Stable weather tends to produce a school of feeding bass. Go fishing!

Are Decoys and Calls Effective Hunting Tools?

Are Decoys and Calls Effective Hunting Tools?

Decoys and calls have been widely popular hunting tools for many years, and Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops both have a number of decoys, calls, and hunting tools available. Both decoys and calls are available for almost any type of game. These hunting tools are often thought to attract game for a better chance of a good kill. Hunters who decide to make use of calls or decoys will find them to be quite effective. For hunters who hunt primarily for food, these tools will save you a considerable amount of time.

Effective Placement for Decoys

Decoy placement plays an important role in attracting any kind of game. This is especially true for duck and other waterfowl decoys. The chances of attracting game are good as long as the decoys look realistic. Hard plastic decoys usually provide a more authentic look to curious game. Roll-up foam and 3-D silhouettes are also popular choices. For your best chances, scout out possible decoy locations before setting them up. This will eliminate having to move the decoys around after animals have begun to show up.

Your decoys should always be within easy shotgun range. Fewer decoys are better whenever possible. If you have fewer decoys out, this allows you to be more mobile. It’s always a good idea to remember the the decoys need to be visible from the perspective of a deer, duck, or whatever your target is. They’ll have a shorter visual range than humans do. Some states allow hunters to use electronic decoys. These move slightly, in a realistic way. A curious animal is more likely to investigate it and come into easy shooting range. It’s always a good idea to make sure these are permissible before using them.

]]>

How Calls Are Helpful

Calls are very helpful for attracting game when they aren’t naturally passing through where your decoys are. Calls are capable of making different types of sounds to increase your chances of attracting game. For example, deer calls are available with either buck or doe sounds. Adjusting the calls to suit different naturally occurring noises will arouse more curiosity in the game you’re hunting.

It’s always a good idea to make sure you know how to use your call before you’re actually hunting. Making the wrong kinds of sounds with your call can either scare your targets off or cause them to start chasing you. This is especially true when hunting deer species. Bucks are naturally territorial and can be very aggressive during rutting season. You don’t have to call your targets right to you, as it’s mainly a matter of getting them close enough to see the decoys.

How Decoys Help Bowhunters

There are special decoys available that specifically meet the needs of bowhunters. Some of the most popular options are made from a light foam material. These decoys can be easily rolled up and carried from place to place. There’s also a 3-D decoy type available that’s considered to be especially effective for bowhunters. Since bowhunting requires excellent concentration skills, using these decoys will make it easier for you to focus on getting a good shot.
